First Things First
In Malachi 3:8-10 and in Proverbs 3:9-10 we learn about the principle of tithing and the idea that the first fruits of our labor/income belong to God. We find this principle all through God’s Word. Tithing, giving God the first 10% of our income to the local church, is a practical way we acknowledge that God is first in our lives. Jesus said that “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also,” (Matthew 6:21). God deserves our “first fruits,” not our “leftovers.”
An Eternal Investment
Even when the stock market’s down, you can make an investment that pays dividends for a lifetime and beyond. By investing in the life-changing message of Jesus, you can leverage your money for eternal purposes. (I Timothy 6:7). All that we can take with us is that which we have given away.
